Mountain Lion, Puma, Cougar, Catamount, Panther

Latin Names: Felis concolor or Puma concolor

Description: The Mountain Lion is one of the largest wild cats in the Americas, second only to the Jaguar. Unlike the spotted Jaguar, adult Mountain lions are uniformly tan to gray. Their long tail is distinctive and they can weigh up to 150 pounds. There are at least 30 subspecies worldwide. Thirteen subspecies occur in the US and Canada.
