This Study

Since 1985, Dr. John Laundre has been studying the population dynamics and behavior of the mountain lions of south central Idaho. Concerns about the impact of habitat fragmentation on mountain lions prompted the study.
The objectives of the study are:
  1. To identify and describe the dynamics of this population of mountain lions
  2. To gain information about how mountain lions use their home range
  3. To determine the dynamics between mountain lions and mule deer, their chief source of prey
  4. To make recommendations for how to sustain mountain lion populations in the future.
